11. THE NATIONAL HOTEL, (Now Van Gorder’s Furniture)

This hotel was built in 1868 on the site of the Kimbel home—Honesdale’s first house, itself built in 1824 or 1825. Each room in the national had a fireplace, and those facing the street all had balconies. The hotel was operated by the Weaver family for several generations.
