13. ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH

The church building was dedicated in a formal ceremony October 2-5 1904, after having been built at a cost of $23,000. Some of the furniture and the bell were brought over from the old church which was located just South (further on in this tour). The original congregation was formed on May 2, 1846. The lots for the new church were purchased by the Ladies Aid, Young People’s Societies, and the Sunday School for $5,500.
